Markham Ribfest 2011

Last night K and I decided to check out Markham Ribfest with a couple of our friends. By the time we had arrived, there were already long lineups at each stall. There are many ribbers participating this year and each of them had large signs showcasing their awards and famous barbecue. After much exhilaration, we agreed on trying Bad Wolf and Tennessee Outbacks and began dreading the wait we would have to endure before being able to taste the smoked meats. It took us nearly 2 hours before we were able to order. But it was definitely worth the wait! The ribs were really juicy and tasty. We ordered a full rack of ribs from both stalls as well as a pulled pork sandwich from Tennessee Outbacks. We ended our night with an ice cream cone dipped in chocolate. It was my first time trying a cone from an ice cream truck. Sometime by the end of this summer, K and I are going to chase after an ice cream truck (our personal mission)! :) I have been looking forward to summer events like these and was pretty excited to be attend my first Ribfest.

[Long line-up, took us an hour and a bit to wait in this line that curves.]

[A better look at the other lines. There are rides and games to play at the festival too.]

[Funnel cakes and deep fried Mars bar! I wanted to try these but I had already enjoyed a Cinnabon before arriving at the festival.]

[Lemonade stand! Had one of these to quench our thirst while waiting in line for ribs.]

[Our full rack of ribs and pulled pork sandwich!]

[Listening to live music while enjoying our food.]

This was a fun experience, despite the amount of time we had to wait before we could eat our food. The festival runs until today (July 10, 2011). If anyone wants to check it out, it's located at Markham City Hall. Don't miss out on amazing ribs and tell me which ribber was your favourite! :)

Minutes to Seconds

Guess who we finally brought home? We've been waiting for this little guy for quite some time :)

Meet our new puppy Bubba. He is a bulloxer who just turned 7 weeks old yesterday and is already quite a handful. I will be taking care of him for the next week and a bit while K is working Downtown. These pictures are from a few weeks back when we visited him. I will be providing more updated pics of him and my pup in the upcoming blog posts.

Welcome home Bubba! He is a really persistent pup and will nip at you if he dislikes something. I would like to train him so that he won't bite and chew on everything in sight. If anyone has any tips and advice, it will be greatly appreciated! :)
