It's 2 o'clock in the Morning

Met up with one of my girlfriends whom I haven't seen since last term. We pretty much literally shopped til we dropped today :) I picked up 2 cute items from H&M. First up is a light pink sweater with a ruffle detailing going across the front of the shirt. I love the length of this since it can be long enough to wear over leggings which is what I usually opt for during fall. The second piece of clothing I bought is a black romper. I simply couldn't resist purchasing this despite the cold weather we currently have. It has a bustier-type kind of top and just looks adorable on.

Please excuse the terrible lighting in these pictures. It's pretty late at night and I felt like sharing my mini haul with you at this precise moment :)

Time to head to bed with a stuffy nose. Good night!

Trick-or-Treat

October has already come and gone. However, the last day of the month was celebrated with a fun and probably one of my favourite holidays, Halloween. Everyone dresses up and waits until it becomes dark before going door to door asking for treats.

My family and I love to decorate our house to make it more festive. I wish I had snapped a photo of it, but I must have forgotten to amidst all the excitement. But here are some pictures from that night:

[Went all around town to search for these little guys]

[Can you guess what I was?]

[The picture doesn't show it, but my pup was a butterfly for the night :)]

What were you dressed up as for this spooky holiday? I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween!

My Place

Nearly a month has gone by since my last post! And I must apologize for the unexpected hiatus but I have been extremely busy with everything else.

What was supposed to be a week or two of puppysitting turned out to last a month and more. I am still taking care of Bubba at the moment. The day he will return back to his home will be a sad one. I've grown to like the pup more and more with each  passing day.
I've also been busy with driving lessons and prepping for my driving exam. I'm hoping I'll be able to pass on my first try. Wish me luck!

In less than weeks, school will be starting up again for me. So I'm going to be making the best of this time before I have to return :) Tell me how your summer's been and enjoy the rest of it in the sun while you can!

Markham Ribfest 2011

Last night K and I decided to check out Markham Ribfest with a couple of our friends. By the time we had arrived, there were already long lineups at each stall. There are many ribbers participating this year and each of them had large signs showcasing their awards and famous barbecue. After much exhilaration, we agreed on trying Bad Wolf and Tennessee Outbacks and began dreading the wait we would have to endure before being able to taste the smoked meats. It took us nearly 2 hours before we were able to order. But it was definitely worth the wait! The ribs were really juicy and tasty. We ordered a full rack of ribs from both stalls as well as a pulled pork sandwich from Tennessee Outbacks. We ended our night with an ice cream cone dipped in chocolate. It was my first time trying a cone from an ice cream truck. Sometime by the end of this summer, K and I are going to chase after an ice cream truck (our personal mission)! :) I have been looking forward to summer events like these and was pretty excited to be attend my first Ribfest.

[Long line-up, took us an hour and a bit to wait in this line that curves.]

[A better look at the other lines. There are rides and games to play at the festival too.]

[Funnel cakes and deep fried Mars bar! I wanted to try these but I had already enjoyed a Cinnabon before arriving at the festival.]

[Lemonade stand! Had one of these to quench our thirst while waiting in line for ribs.]

[Our full rack of ribs and pulled pork sandwich!]

[Listening to live music while enjoying our food.]

This was a fun experience, despite the amount of time we had to wait before we could eat our food. The festival runs until today (July 10, 2011). If anyone wants to check it out, it's located at Markham City Hall. Don't miss out on amazing ribs and tell me which ribber was your favourite! :)

Minutes to Seconds

Guess who we finally brought home? We've been waiting for this little guy for quite some time :)

Meet our new puppy Bubba. He is a bulloxer who just turned 7 weeks old yesterday and is already quite a handful. I will be taking care of him for the next week and a bit while K is working Downtown. These pictures are from a few weeks back when we visited him. I will be providing more updated pics of him and my pup in the upcoming blog posts.

Welcome home Bubba! He is a really persistent pup and will nip at you if he dislikes something. I would like to train him so that he won't bite and chew on everything in sight. If anyone has any tips and advice, it will be greatly appreciated! :)

Where my Heart Belongs

While on my trip, I took a short stroll through the boardwalk on Front Street. There weren't too many people since it was still pretty early in the morning. There also wasn't a cruise ship in sight, so that meant less tourists were going to be around. But, I think that's how I like the beaches to be. It wasn't crowded at all and only had a few people sunbathing. I even spotted a couple of herons and a large sea turtle too! These are the pictures taken on that day, along with a couple other photos of my trip. The quality of these photos are not as great since they were taken on my ipod touch.

[Leaving Toronto!]

[Landing in St. Maarten :)]

[Herons at the end of the dock! They were diving for fish.]

[I thought this was cute. It's the back of a bench.]

[Look at how much the mangoes have grown since the last time I was there!]

[You can stick it on yourself, clothing, and even furniture to repel mosquitos.]

[Giving the stickers a try. I'm not too sure if they work, but I was willing to try anything to keep mosquitos from biting me.]

[A mini license plate souvenir, really adorable.]

[I had lunch at Blue Bitch Bar which is located right on the boardwalk by the beach. I had a grilled mahi mahi sandwich with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and diced mangoes. Really good :)]

[Blue Bitch Bar's slogan: "Where people in heat come to eat."]

I absolutely love this place.

Paradise Island

Hello :) I am back in St. Maarten and will be here until Sunday. It is hard to find a spot with wifi but I will try my best to post the couple of pictures that I have taken while here on my stay. It will be a little challenging and therefore can't make a promise :P

Talk to you soon,

xoxo L
