Where my Heart Belongs

While on my trip, I took a short stroll through the boardwalk on Front Street. There weren't too many people since it was still pretty early in the morning. There also wasn't a cruise ship in sight, so that meant less tourists were going to be around. But, I think that's how I like the beaches to be. It wasn't crowded at all and only had a few people sunbathing. I even spotted a couple of herons and a large sea turtle too! These are the pictures taken on that day, along with a couple other photos of my trip. The quality of these photos are not as great since they were taken on my ipod touch.

[Leaving Toronto!]

[Landing in St. Maarten :)]

[Herons at the end of the dock! They were diving for fish.]

[I thought this was cute. It's the back of a bench.]

[Look at how much the mangoes have grown since the last time I was there!]

[You can stick it on yourself, clothing, and even furniture to repel mosquitos.]

[Giving the stickers a try. I'm not too sure if they work, but I was willing to try anything to keep mosquitos from biting me.]

[A mini license plate souvenir, really adorable.]

[I had lunch at Blue Bitch Bar which is located right on the boardwalk by the beach. I had a grilled mahi mahi sandwich with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and diced mangoes. Really good :)]

[Blue Bitch Bar's slogan: "Where people in heat come to eat."]

I absolutely love this place.

Paradise Island

Hello :) I am back in St. Maarten and will be here until Sunday. It is hard to find a spot with wifi but I will try my best to post the couple of pictures that I have taken while here on my stay. It will be a little challenging and therefore can't make a promise :P

Talk to you soon,

China Cottage

K and I were driving around looking for a place to have lunch when I spotted this restaurant, China Cottage. We decided to give it a try since I knew he would always be excited to eat Hakka food (which is basically a mix of Chinese and Indian cuisine). It doesn't really look like much on the outside but you should never judge a book by its cover. The interior decoration of this restaurant was simple yet modern. I thought it looked appealing and it was pretty clean too (which is a major plus).

We ordered their lunch specials which includes your main dish of choice (there were many to choose from) and a soup. I had manchurian fish with rice and K chose chili chicken with rice. We both had hot and sour soup with our meal.

[$6.75 for each meal, not bad :)]

[Manchurian fish: fish was really tender and delicious.]

[K's chili chicken dish. He couldn't wait and already dug into it.]

[China Cottage's location, taken from Google maps]

This restaurant is located by Steeles Road and Markham Road. I would recommend this place since it got the seal of approval from the guy who is always very opinionated about his food (I'm just kidding :P). If anyone is interested in trying out Hakka food, definitely go check this place out!

I Want to Feel the Summer Rain

Hello lovelies! I thought I would show you my outfit of the day. This would be my take on the current tribal print trend. It is really comfortable and simple to put together. Hope you like it:

(Gotta love funny faces :) I am completely new at this, I promise you I'll be more natural in front of a camera with time)

(One of the few wooden bracelets I bought while on vacation at St. Maarten)

(Bright coloured nail polishes are always so cute when the weather gets warmer)

(Pointing him in the right direction, training him to use his nose more)

(How adorable is he? Such a playful pup)

So how do you guys like the tribal print trend? Let me know if you would prefer to see more posts like these.

Vamos a la Playa - Part 2

Here are the rest of the pictures from my trip ! Enjoy :)

(I love wandering through the market and looking through the stalls for hidden gems. I bought a few wooden bracelets with my terrible bargaining skills.)

(The really adorable placemats at an amazing seafood restaurat where you are seated right beside the harbour.)

(At Chesterfields, I had the seafood sampler platter which comes with seasoned shrimp, scallop, and mahi mahi. Delicious.)

(The drawbridge went up. There's a line-up of cars waiting for the boat to pass on by.)

(At Maho Bay, it was pouring rain that day.)

(Dinner at Cheri's Cafe and Spicy was our waiter!)

(I felt terrible for this stray and hungry kitten who kept begging for scraps of food.)

(Mangoes beginning to grow)

(Amazing meal, goat meat was so tender and flavourful.)

(Last day, driving towards the airport)

That is pretty much all the pictures I had taken while on my trip. The weather was not the greatest the week I had stayed there. Although, it was gorgeous the morning I had to head to the airport. Lucky me :) I can not wait to go back (in a week from today)!

Vamos a la Playa - Part 1

It is a sweltering high of 42 degrees outside today! Really humid but actually kind of nice and nostalgic. Which is why I felt it was appropriate to finally update my blog and post the much delayed post that I had promised!

This post will be picture heavy, you've been warned :)

(7 a.m. at Pearson Airport waiting for flight)

( Almost 10 a.m., boarded plane, waiting for flight to depart, good-bye Toronto!)

(Smoked Turkey and Brie Sandwich for lunch, $6.50 -- wasn't the best, a little dry but there really isn't a great variety of options when you're flying)

(A couple thousand feet up in the air, very pretty view above the clouds)

(Where I was, at that approximate moment in time, more than halfway there!)

(I've reached the beautiful island of St. Maarten! Leaving airport during traffic jam. The vehicle in front of us is a public bus.)

(Driving through town)

(A bubble tea store in the Caribbeans? I was curious to try)

(Round-abouts -- are not that efficient, in my opinion)

(Trying my best to snap photos as we were driving along. The entire week I was there, the weather forecasted thundershowers but it only rained for a few minutes at a time and passed.)

(The adorable little house I stayed in, love this place)

(Where I would love to spend the rest of my summer, I absolutely love the beach)

(Sitting on the very same bench I used to sit on while waiting to be picked up after school when I was younger)

I have decided to make this into two separate posts since this is turning out to be really long!
